There’s a new breed of country decorating that lavishes beloved rustic touchstones with a lick of polish. The profiles are pared-down but still humble, and sophisticated matte neutrals do the heavy lifting. This room by Jeffrey Dungan of Jeffrey Dungan Architects (who grew up on a farm) captures the welcoming informality of country. Other key elements of the look are bare windows, carpets laid out like stepping stones and a restrained, neutral palette.
“When you use natural materials in an honest way the result resonates in our souls.” –
Jeffrey Dungan
