If you’ve ever been to Maryland or Virginia or the Carolinas, it’s likely you’ve driven past a Southern colonial home. Influenced by Greco-Roman architecture and the Baroque andRenaissance styles of Mexico and Spain, Southern colonial architecture is instantly recognizable. Crown molding, French windows, brick masonry — these are just some of the hallmarks of this breathtaking architectural style.

Cedar shake, barn wood, stuccoed brick & stone, decorate the exterior of these homes. Inside, you can expect to find grand staircases and polished chandeliers, which sparkle in the sunlight. Designers characterize the Spanish colonial style with three S’s: size, scale and symmetry. Jeffrey Dungan scales down this style of architecture with the visions of our clients to create homes that are both visually striking and incredibly unique.

Southern Style Homes

Country Houses

Create a country home with all the trademarks of the Spanish colonial style. This Boerne, Texas, residence puts a modern twist on the design features from the colonial era, with a private central courtyard, full-height windows and clay tile rooftops.

This Nashville cottage combines traditional colonial architecture with contemporary exteriors. Cypress custom cabinets and Turkish Carrara marble countertops adorn the spacious kitchen, while rustic candle chandeliers hang from high molded ceilings.

Lake Houses

With panoramic lake views, this cozy home is nestled in the trees and blends into the natural surroundings. Just as grand as the colonial homes of yesteryear, the residence has galvanized panels on its roof.

Beach Houses

Like the colonial homes from the 19th century, this grand residence is painted all in white. A stone’s throw from the ocean, Dungan’s glamorous beach house in Alys Beach was featured in a 2016 issue of LUXE magazine.

Step back in time at this majestic farmhouse in South Alabama. Dungan has transformed a small cabin into a family hub with colonial features like French doors. Reclaimed oak beams and a shuttered porch evoke memories of a bygone era.
